Meet Pete Criss
Born to a poor family in the Himalayas with connections to Toronto's vibrant Tibetan community in Parkdale. Made his fortune early. He was sold into slavery by his parents to Royale Tissues as a Soft Touch Kitten in 1970 for a campaign created by a Toronto ad agency (now Saatchi & Saatchi). Booze, drugs and kitty nip were the obvious temptations, but he kept his eye on the mouse...and pursued an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and Phd in law from Harvard University. Now a successful animal rights activist.
The Toronto School of Art (TSA) is Toronto's longest running independent art school and contributor to Toronto's cultural and artistic fabric. TSA guides artists through all phases of their artistic development and is open to anyone interested in hands-on studio courses, our programs and drop-in life drawing & painting without instruction. One of Toronto's Hidden Gems for over 41 years, TSA has been providing a solid visual arts program combined with advanced levels of artistic training all led by professional artists. TSA offers students a unique opportunity for hands-on studio learning and exposure to emerging artistic trends by exploring galleries, artist run centres and cultural centres. Courses are offered throughout the year. Approximately 1200 students attend TSA each year. Expert instruction is provided by 50 faculty members who are professional artists with local and international reputations. Our student base includes individuals from 14 to 80+ years and is representative of diverse cultures and persons with disabilities. Our space is wheelchair accessible. TSA was Approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005
